Zorritos, Peru
Every summer Home Works takes a mission trip to Zorritos, Peru to repair and construct homes in their village. Peruvians and Home Works' volunteers join together in these construction efforts. Home Works volunteers also work in the soup kitchens and distribute multi-vitamins that have been given to Home Works by United States donors.
The Home Works partnership with the Zorritos community has grown over the years. Currently the partnership is teaching Peruvian men and boys carpentry so they may be gainfully be employed, provide for their families and at the same time be able to construct simple homes for those that have no home or adequate shelter. To learn more, read about the Mission trips.
Ongoing items needed for this International effort include:
-
multi-vitamins (to be distributed to pregnant women and children),
-
airline miles (the largest expense of the trip is the plane tickets), and
-
cash (to purchase building materials and tools after arriving in Peru).
