Weeklong Session Tips for Volunteers
· Signed Release Forms and Volunteer Application is needed.
· Wear work clothes, tee shirt, shorts and sneakers or work shoes.
· No sports bras or other inappropriate work clothing.
· 1 pair of long work pants.
· Sports wear for Tuesday afternoon soccer/softball/tennis activities.
· Casual wear for the evening.
· 1 rain coat.
· Sleeping bag and pillow.
· 3 towels and wash cloths.
· Toilettes.
· Insect repellent, sunscreen and a hat.
· Determine whether you are current with regards to your tetanus shot.
· Lunch, snacks, water and Gatorade are provided.
· If possible bring safety glasses, gloves, and paint brushes.
· If you bring any tools, please label them.
· No tape players, compact disc players nor cell phones at the work site.
· Bring a musical instrument if you play one, such as a guitar.
· Minimal spending money is needed. Team members usually purchase a gift for the homeowner upon completion of the repairs.
· Spend time, sit and chat with the residents of the home.
