Week 9

So I am still in pain. Monday I had a MRI done on my leg, and I am awaiting test results. I am still committed to running the Marathon, and am now looking for a temporary “fix” that will allow me to run. I have not given up!

Since I am not running currently, I wanted to point out a home along the route of the Marathon. Mrs. Frederick was 66 yrs old and living by herself when she contacted Home Works for help. By the time Home Works was able to help her, her roof was leaking into her home, the fascia and soffit was in bad condition, there was a broken window pane in the front of the house, and the bathtub was in critical need of replacement.

Home Works brought a message of hope and was able to help. Home Works replaced her bathtub, repaired the fascia and soffit, replaced the roof over her kitchen, and fixed her window; all this with the help of youth and adult volunteers who took the time to take care of their neighbor.

I want to thank the Columbia Marathon for making Home Works an official charity of the 2012 Columbia Marathon, and making more stories like Mrs. Frederick possible. Look for the big white Home Works sign as you run on Gervais St. to see the house!
